Alanna Rizzo MLB Network
Rizzo didn’t intend to work in sports broadcasting in the first place. She sought a marketing career in the beverage and hospitality industries after earning her international business degree from the University of Colorado.
Rizzo said, “I did it for approximately five years, and I was just extremely bored. That was absolutely disappointing. I returned to school, took out a second mortgage on my home, In order to pay for school, and entered the media field.”
Rizzo’s decision to shift her strategic plan was inspired by her firsthand knowledge of the challenges of an MLB baseball season. “I feel that with this type of profession, you either put 100% into it or you don’t, and you have to give it your all.”
She recognized she couldn’t do that as the 2021 season drew near because her life was changing. She worked at MLB Network from early 2012 until late 2013, winning three Regional Emmy Awards. Rizzo provided coverage for the MLB Network programs Intentional Talk and Quick Pitch.
In 2021, she announced her departure from the Dodgers. She’s back on the MLB Network, contributing to Christopher Russo’s “High Heat” program.
