Since 1986, Alexis Simendinger, a native of Washington, DC, has worked as a reporter in the city. She is The Hill’s national correspondent and the host of the HillCast podcast. She was once employed by RealClearPolitics.
She began working as a White House correspondent for RealClearPolitics in May 2011, not long after finishing a six-month investigation project with the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission to contribute to the best-selling official account of the 2008 financial collapse, which was released in 2011.
Alexis previously reported on Senate activity during Barack Obama’s first two years in office as well as White House, federal government, and presidential politics for National Journal magazine. She covered the administrations of Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
In recognition of her 2007 National Journal reporting on the Bush White House, Alexis was given the prestigious Aldo Beckman journalism prize in 2008 for “continued excellence in White House coverage” by the White House Correspondents’ Association.
