Andrew Callaghan is an American journalist. He founded and featured in the YouTube programs Channel 5 and All Gas No Brakes. He sustained himself while attending college by working as a doorman on Bourbon Street.

It was during that time that Callaghan saw what he called “hellish scenes” and was looking for a clever or amusing approach to record them.

He quit his job and started asking drunken people on the streets of the city about their deepest secrets. He later gathered these interviews into a YouTube and Instagram series called “Quarter Confessions”, after the area in New Orleans’ French Quarter.

Two women claimed in videos they released on TikTok in early January 2023 that Callaghan had tried to coerce them into having sex. After the first TikTok video, The Stranger conducted an interview with two additional women who claimed that Callaghan had made them insecure and tried to pressure them into having sex.

On January 12, Callaghan expressed regret and started his four-and-a-half-minute YouTube video by stating that he wanted to be “fully accountable” and “transparent.”

He also expressed gratitude to “Every single person who has spoken out in the last few days about various ways in which my behavior has made them feel feeling uneasy or compelled during a sexual situation, as well to people who said that I’ve made unwanted advances.”

Caroline Elise, a TikTok creator, said that she also had her side of the story when she encountered Callaghan in March 2021. They encountered in a bar where he was alleged with another lady, leading Caroline to believe their meeting would not be romantic.

She claimed that she refused to kiss him when he tried to do so. Andrew continued to pressure her for sex, and even though she claims to have told him, “No, I’m not feeling it,” she eventually gave in and claimed that she was forced into several sexual acts.

Callaghan reacted to the accusations on January 15 in a YouTube video, saying that some of the claims against him were “not true” or “missing important specific information”. Nonetheless, he apologized for his actions and intended to start seeking a therapist and going to Alcoholics Anonymous meetings.

He continued by saying; “I truly believe that alcohol was a contributing factor to my poor decision-making. I believe that drinking in general has had a terrible impact on my life.” He also apologized to his family, friends, and coworkers.
