Radcliffe plays the role of young James in the new Netflix series Anatomy of a Scandal. In an interview with Harper’s Bazaar, Ben explained his role saying;
“I play the role of young James, while the older James is played by Rupert Friend as a high-level politician. I play him in his younger days at Oxford University in flashback sequences that are set in the 90s.”
“At a younger age James is filled with more cockiness and selfish exuberance,” said Radcliffe in a previous interview. “But he has a lot of qualities that carry over into adulthood — he has an easy charm, he’s warm and seemingly trustworthy.”
Ben was asked how he feels about playing his complicated character he said;
“It was quite hard to find sympathy for a character that is so arrogant and entitled. For the most part, he is a good person, but his background informs like this view of the world has that he feels like he can’t do anything wrong. So it was hard to find sympathy for him.”
Anatomy of a Scandal follows the life of politician James and his wife Sophie Whitehouse who are embroidered in a nasty secret scandal that comes to light. As the secret unfolds, the truth lies between privilege and justice.
