On February 10, 2022, Windhorst drew applause for outperforming Adrian Wojnarowski, one of the top NBA reporters, on the subject of James Harden’s 2022 trade from the Brooklyn Nets to the Philadelphia 76ers. Wojnarowski had fiercely disputed Windhorst’s reports on the validity of trade negotiations between the two teams.
Despite what Windhorst’s ESPN colleague claimed, he insisted that real trade negotiations were taking place. The following day, Harden was traded for Ben Simmons in a huge deal, and this proved that Windhorst was right.
