Bryan began his career in television as an engineer at WFSU-TV in Tallahassee, Florida. Soon after graduating from college in 1972, he moved to Atlanta to work as a mechanical engineer as well as technical director at WXIA-TV.
He was assigned the role of acting Production Manager at that station in 1974, then in 1975, he was transferred to Denver television station KBTV (now KUSA), where he served as the evening broadcast director.
The 10:00 pm news, which rose to the top of the ratings in the market, was given to Norcross’s production team in 1976. He also served as the program’s director for more than a year.
He accepted a position in 1977 to work as the News Director of WLKY-TV in Louisville. In January 1978, a huge snowstorm struck Louisville as he was there looking for a home.
Norcross was the only journalist who managed to reach the television station, and with the assistance of two overnight engineers, he went on the air and gave the city the only Live coverage of the storm.
He also held the position of Senior Executive Director of Weather Content and Presentation at The Weather Channel from 2011 to 2013, where he oversaw the 2012 campaign to name winter storms.
Norcross’ main role from February 2018 to March 2022 was as a hurricane specialist at WPLG-TV, the ABC affiliate in Miami, where he also started his broadcasting career in 1983. He was hired by Fox Weather on March 14, 2022, with immediate effect as a contributor and hurricane specialist.
