Hart started participating in the AMA supercross circuit at the age of 18 and became a professional rider. Two years before, he had suffered two damaged femurs, a broken tibia and fibula, as well as fractured wrists, after being hit by a tractor working on the track he was riding on and colliding with it.
In 1996, Hart was one of the first riders to compete in freestyle motocross. In 1998–99, Hart was the first rider to publicly perform the BMX stunt “superman seat grab” at IFMA tournaments.

Hart is credited with the first “attempt” at a backflip, since he over-rotated his flip and landed forcefully, ejecting him from the seat. He won multiple FMX events and accolades in 2000, including Silver in the Las Vegas LXD Freeride MotoX and Toyota’s Trick of the Week.
Throughout his career, Hart has appeared in national commercial campaigns for Ford, Dunkin’ Donuts, and Mountain Dew, as well as print magazines such as Paper Magazine, Teen People, and ESPN The Magazine.
