Will Cenk Uygur Run For 2024 U.S. Presedency?
Uygur announced in September 2023 that he would seek nomination to compete with President Joe Biden in the Democratic Party presidential primary in 2024. He has advised Biden not to run for re-election, claiming that he is too old and will be incapable of facing off against Trump.
Uygur stated that if no progressive candidates started a campaign, he might launch his own to inspire other Democrats to challenge Biden.
However, he is ineligible to hold the office of the President of the United States since the United States Constitution mandates that the president must be born in the United States. He is not a natural-born U.S. citizen. Uygur questioned the legitimacy of these requirements.
By mid-November, he had been unsuccessful in his attempts to appear on the ballots of three states (Nevada, New Hampshire, and South Carolina) but successful in one (Arkansas), making history as the first non-natural-born citizen to appear on a presidential ballot in the United States.
