Nunley joined KING-TV in March 2022 from KAGS where he worked as the Chief and weekend meteorologist. Between 2018 and 2019, he served as a morning meteorologist and weather producer at KRQE News.
He created and gave an in-depth forecast for four microclimates spread across all of New Mexico, Eastern Arizona, and Southern Colorado. He grew up watching Rich Marriott at KING 5 and now he gets to work with him as a KING 5 Meteorologist…isn’t that amazing!
Chris is a Co-Owner and Co-Founder at Firsthand weather. Since January 2010, they have been using climatology, seasonal numerical advice, and present teleconnections to generate seasonal perspectives.
He was inspired to pursue a career in meteorology as a native of Mason County who still vividly remembers the Puget Sound Windstorm of 1993.
His work on presenting weather forecasts along with hazard and risk perceptions has been published in the Southeastern Geographer and the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society.
His television career has brought him from Albuquerque, New Mexico, to College Station, Texas, to Austin, Texas, and back to the beautiful Emerald City, where he now resides.
Chris has covered everything along those routes, including tornadoes, blizzards, and dust storms as well as wildfires, hurricanes, hailstorms, flooding, extreme heat, and cold.
He enjoys forecasting the harsh weather of Western Washington because weather and Mother Nature have a way of keeping him on his toes.
