Craig is regarded as one of the most competent weather forecasters in the New York tri-state area. The results he provides are factual and authoritative, and he has a pleasant and friendly demeanor.

Craig’s passion for weather started way back when he was still a young boy. He carried a chalkboard to the dining table every night when he was 12 and pretended to be a TV weatherman, providing a forecast to his family while they ate supper.
Today, his radio reports can be heard on 880 every weekday from 5 a.m. to 10 a.m. and in the evenings from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. He says; “It’s the ideal job for someone who enjoys watching the forces of nature.”
Craig does his own forecasting. He studies the massive (and sometimes frightening) amount of atmospheric data and mulls over all the options before penning down a forecast on which so many people rely.
“If there is severe weather, I’ll try not to be overly grim but I’ll make sure to get the sense of urgency across to the listeners and viewers,” he says. Allen started his 40th year at WCBS-AM/880 on April 27, 2021.
According to CBS News, the New York Daily News, and an interview with Jerry Barmash from the New York Examiner/Fish Bowl NY, he has now served as the chief meteorologist on a radio station for the longest period of time in the whole country.
Additionally, Allen took on more radio responsibilities for CBS Radio News, contributing statistics, facts, and forecasts to the radio network.
