Dana Perino’s Dogs
It is clear that Perino has a love for dogs and can’t live without one. After her dog, Jasper died in September 2021, Perino and her husband welcomed their new puppy Percy in November 2021. Dana describes Percy as “remarkably good and smart” and “quite the heart mender”. Below we will have a look at Who Percy and Jasper are.
Dana’s Dog Percy
Percy is a Vizsla dog born in Hillsboro, Ohio on September 22, 2021. Dana and her husband brought him home on November 7th, 2021 few weeks after their dog Jasper died. Percy was named after a World War I veteran who happened to have interacted with Dana’s husband Peter when he was 18 years old.
Dana’s husband who is British worked at a pub in northern England. The veteran would come to the pub each day and clean off the pool table, stay for a while and tell them stories about his childhood and the war. He ended up liking him and decided to name their new puppy after him.
Since Percy joined the Perino household, he has already made a number of appearances on Fox News. On Tuesday, November 9, 2021, Percy appeared as a guest on America’s Newsroom, the news program that Dana co-hosts with Bill Hemmer.
He then was welcomed onto the talk show Fox & Friends on Wednesday morning. Dana shared multiple photos of the puppy on set to her Instagram story, as well as her Twitter account. Many users and fans have responded to her tweets with images of their own dogs.
Dana’s Dog Jasper
Jasper was Dana and her husband’s second Vizsla dog. They adopted him in 2012 after the death of their first dog Henry. Jasper was also known as the American Dog, he was even more recognized in public than Dana.
Jasper became a regular face on Fox News shows such as Fox and Friends and The Five. He was also featured in a number of hilarious and fun images of him at a canine Forrest Gump, presidential debates, world sports championship events, a Wheaties cereal box, and in posters for famous movies (including “Jawsper” and “Dawn of the Planet of the Dogs”).
In 2016, Dana published her book “Let Me Tell You about Jasper . . .How My Best Friend Became America’s Dog” where she describes how she coped with the loss of Henry to when Jasper became their source of happiness.
What happened to Jasper?
On September 4, 2021, Dana Perino announced that her dog, Jasper, had passed away suddenly due to fast-spreading cancer.
Jasper was also a Vizsla and was only nine years old at the time of his death. In an Instagram post, Dana honored Jasper – who was known by many as “America’s Dog”.
“It is with broken hearts that Peter and I have to let you know that Jasper, America’s Dog, died today. Fast-spreading cancer caused him to leave us sooner than we’d ever hoped. We got to send him off – talking about all the fishing he can do in Heaven.
My apologies if this post feels impersonal – so many of you have helped us raise Jasper to become the wonderful, hilarious, legend that he was. It would be impossible to reach all of you as I’d like to – truly a dog has never been so loved and supported.
My deepest thanks to everyone at @foxnews and our amazing and loyal audience. You have tolerated my talking about Jasper for years (yes even you @realgreggutfeld and @jessewatters haha), you’ve sent beautiful paintings, and you’ve helped us have so much joy from his life.
What can you do for us? Love each other. Hold on tight to your loved ones – including all of your pets. And love boldly and fully. Rest In Peace, Jasper. Rest In Peace.?

Dana’s Dog Henry
Dana and Peter previously owned a Vizsla by the name of Henry. He, unfortunately, died in 2012.
