Amy Robach and TJ Holmes, the co-hosts of ABC News GMA 3, were suspended indefinitely after their romantic affair went public. Morgan has since taken the role of the two journalists who are still on suspension.
Morgan got his first job in mainstream media at CBS affiliate WJTV in Jackson, Mississippi. He joined Milwaukee, Wisconsin’s ABC affiliate WISN in 2004 and worked with Portia Young as co-anchor for three years. Three years later, he joined Miami’s NBC station WTVJ as an anchor and reporter.
He began working for NBC in December 2008, joining WNBC in New York as a weekend anchor and a cut-in host for MSNBC. In January 2012, Morgan joined Atlanta’s NBC affiliate, WXIA, where he co-anchored the weeknight program at 6 p.m. with Brenda Wood and contributed to the 11 p.m. evening broadcast.
Additionally, he lectured journalism courses at Clark Atlanta University and Morehouse College while he was in Atlanta. On April 17, 2019, it was revealed that Morgan would join Suzanne Marques as the daily morning anchor for the 4:30–7:00 A.M. and 11:00 A.M. newscasts at CBS station KCBS in Los Angeles effective on May 6, 2019.

Morgan left CBS2 News This Morning on April 29, 2022, after working there since 2015. He left on good terms, with several colleagues sending him good wishes and appreciating their time spent working with him. Suzanne Marques, one of his coworkers said goodbye to him on the news show. She told viewers that Morgan was “going for a new, exciting adventure”
