Doug joined WICZ-TV in Binghamton, New York, after graduating from college and working for his father’s produce company in the Bronx, New York. He subsequently spent time reporting for KFMB-TV in San Diego for five years after serving as a traffic anchor for WBBH-TV in Fort Myers, Florida.
He usually works for KTLA on the red carpet, where he reports on all things that revolve around entertainment. Fast forward to March 2012, Doug started working for the station as a general assignment news reporter. Hollywood’s Sunset Boulevard serves as the home of KTLA’s studios, while Mount Wilson serves as the site of its transmitter.
The station holds the honor of being the first news organization to broadcast news from a helicopter. KTLA engineer John D. Silva invented the use of a Bell 47G-2 fitted with transmitters to transmit live breaking news back to the KTLA transmitter reception on Mount Wilson in an effort to beat their rivals to the punc.
On July 4, 1958, they made their first successful in-flight broadcast. One of the top sporting event produced by KTLA every year is the LA Marathon, which is broadcast on a Sunday morning in February or March and includes many of the Morning News on-air personnel as well as running experts.
