Duane Kuiper is an American sports journalist and former professional baseball player. He has been a television and radio broadcaster for the Giants since 1986.
He is also a member of the well-known “Kruk and Kuip” combo with his friend and former colleague Mike Krukow. Duane took a temporary leave from the Giants in 1993 to work for the Colorado Rockies during their expansion, but he later came back in 1994.

Duane Kuiper’s Career As a Broadcaster
Kuiper started his media career as a footballer who hosted his own radio show on KNBR from 1982 to 1985. He retired from baseball in 1986, and from 1986 to 1992, he served as the color analyst for the Giants.
Kuiper left for a year-long stint with the Colorado Rockies since it was unclear whether the Giants would relocate to Florida for the 1993 campaign. In 1994, he went back to working as a broadcaster with the Giants, where he still works today.
Although Jon Miller handles the television play-by-play, he primarily serves as a television play-by-play announcer for NBC Sports Bay Area. However, he also shares radio play-by-play responsibilities with Dave Flemming on KNBR when the Giants television program is broadcast live over the air on KNTV.
Additionally, he steps in on the radio side when Flemming is unavailable to call games because of his dual position as an ESPN college basketball and football broadcaster.
Whenever the Giants play in the postseason, Kuiper and his broadcast partner Mike Krukow switch to calling games on the radio alongside Miller and Flemming. Network sportscasters handle the television broadcasts.

Kuiper was forced to miss a large portion of the 2021 season after receiving a cancer diagnosis that required him to get treatment. However, in the 2022 season, he returned to calling a limited schedule of all home games and 20 away games while working remotely from San Francisco.
