Butler’s husband’s name is Michael. They met on a blind date set up by her cousin. Butler was working at ABC 7 at the time, and Michael owned a personal training studio. Her husband proposed to her on the Duquesne Incline in Pittsburg, and they married in 1992.

Tracy Butler Golf
Butler has received the Executive Women’s Golf Association’s “Woman of the Year” award as well as the Illinois Treasurer’s Public Service Award. The Illinois Chapter of the MS Society honored her with the Public Education Award in 2012.
In 2013, she and co-director Scott Woodruff established The Duke Classic to honor the memory of long-time ABC 7 cameraman Michael Dukewich, who died in 2012.
The golf tournament raised nearly $60,000 for the Greater Chicago Food Depository and the Wounded Warrior Project. Tracy enjoys golf and participates in charity golf programs in her spare time.

Butler was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2018 during a routine mammogram. She made the announcement in September 2019 via a statement and a pre-recorded segment. She began treatment for breast cancer right away because it had been detected earlier.
The meteorologist revealed that she was cancer-free and doing very well thanks to her family’s strength and support. Butler emphasized the importance of mammogram screenings because breast cancer can be easily treated if detected early.
