Isis Romero is an American journalist working for KENS5 as an evening news anchor. She comes to KENS5 after working for over a decade at KSAT in San Antonio.
While at KSAT, Isis was the 10 pm anchor of The Nighbeat segments and also hosted “Up Close with Isis Romero,” “Conviction” and the “Day of the Dead River Parade.”
Her departure at KSAT in July 2021 was controversial as the network did not renew her contract without explanation. Isis has also worked at KZTV and KSAZ.

Isis joined KSAT in San Antonio in 2010. She has been working at KSAT for 11 years anchoring the 1 newscast in San Antonio. She was happy to represent the Latina community as a Hispanic news anchor on an English language TV.
While at KSAT, she was the 10 p.m. anchor of “The Nightbeat” segment. She also hosted Up Close with Isis Romero, Conviction, and the Day of the Dead River Parade.
In July 2021, Isis announced that KSAT did not renew her contract after working there for over a decade. She penned a message to her viewers saying;
“You have always expected transparency and honesty from me, and over the years I have worked to deliver that to you as KSAT’s 10 pm anchor. For this reason, I wanted to share with you that KSAT has decided not to renew my contract, and terminated my duties moving forward. My last day on the air was July 12.”
She also talked of the first time she came to San Antonio in 2010which would later become her home for the next 11 years.
“When I came to San Antonio in 2010, I fell in love with the city– it is here where I built a home, a family, and a future. I care so deeply about our viewers and our community– and though my role with KSAT has ended, my love for you, the people of San Antonio, has not stopped.”
Isis thanked her viewers and fellow workmates for her time at KSAT for the 11 years she has worked there.
“I want to thank those of you who have supported me with your viewership these past 11 years, and for the incredible love and kindness, you have shown me. I will be forever grateful.”

Isis announced that she will be joining the KENS5 news team in April 2022 on her Facebook page. Her first on-air anchoring was on June 6th, 2022.
She anchors the evening newscast alongside Alanna Sarabia and Bill Taylor. Isis began her journalism career in 2004 working at KZTV as the anchor for the 5 pm, 6 pm, and 10 pm newscast. She then joined KSAZ in 2007 where she was the 10 pm, news anchor.
