Antonoff began singing while in high school where he and his friends formed a punk rock band called Outline. He then formed the Steel Train Band with his friend Scott Irby-Ranniar in 2002. In 2008, he joined his friends Nate Ruess and Andrew Dost to form Fun Band.
They released their debut album Am and Ignite in 2009 and their second album Some Nights in 2012. He then formed the band Bleachers where he is the lead singer since 2014.
