Big Daddy is a 1999 American comedy film. The story revolves around 32-year-old Sonny Koufax, who is ditched by his lover for not taking  responsibility. Then, Sonny makes an effort to behave responsibly by adopting Julian, a five-year-old boy who shows up on his way out the door.
His girlfriend Vanessa threatens to break up with him if he doesn’t take more responsibility. She doesn’t like Sonny since he frequently makes fun of her previous job at Hooters. The following morning, the 5-year old Julian McGrath is still at their apartment when Sonny wakes up.
A note states that his mother is no longer able to care for him and that Kevin is his biological father. Sonny speaks with Kevin, who is confused by the information. Sonny promises him that he would look after Julian till Kevin comes back from China notwithstanding his arrogance and lack of parenting abilities.
After a year, Sonny has completely changed his life; he is now a respected attorney, married to Layla, and the couple has a child together. At a Hooters, Sonny receives a surprise birthday celebration from his friends, including Julian, who is delighted in his new home with Kevin and Corinne.
As soon as Sonny comes across Sid and Vanessa, who are both employed there as cook and waiteress respectively, she informs him that his “five-year plan” did not proceed as she had intended.
Everyone but a frustrated Vanessa celebrates Sonny’s birthday. Jackie was chosen to play the role of a waitress at Blarney’s, a bar that Sonny visits frequently.
