Who is Jacqueline Matter?
Jacqueline Matter is an American broadcast journalist. She anchors weekend evenings at 6, 7, 10 and 11 p.m. Matter moved to Washington, DC, in July 2021 and is excited to be a resident of the nation’s capital and a member of such a vibrant news team.
Before joining FOX5, Jacqueline worked as the weekday evening anchor for Tampa, Florida’s ABC7 News. She worked for five years in a variety of capacities at her former station, including morning anchor and host of a political and investigative talk show.
Education
Matter received her high school diploma at San Clemente High School. In 2013, she attended the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and graduated in 2015 with a bachelor’s degree in journalism. During her college years, Matter was a member of UNC’s all-girl cheerleading team and a sister of Phi Mu.

Jacqueline Matter Grew Up in a Military Household
Matter was born on October 19, 1991, in the United States. Her father serves in the Army, and he happens to be one of five generations of military men. Her childhood experience of frequently changing locations around the country contributed to her ability to adjust to different environments.
She admits that the title “Army Brat” can occasionally carry a negative connotation, but she is grateful for her experiences as a service member’s daughter, which have opened up numerous opportunities for her and given her a fresh perspective on world affairs.

Jacqueline has reported on several noteworthy occasions, such as the 2020 election, the Parkland tragedy, the collapse of the Surfside building, and almost a dozen hurricanes.
She has also assisted a veteran of the Korean War to get a Silver Star for his valiant efforts in battle over 70 years ago. Her coverage of the challenges that veterans face has prompted changes at the federal level regarding exposure to poisonous water.
Jacqueline was Miss North Carolina International 2016 and actively promoted PTSD education on behalf of active duty troops, veterans, and their families. She was a Top 10 finalist for Miss International and served as a national speaker for the nonprofits NAMI and Hope for the Warriors throughout her year of service.
