Soon after getting married, they made the decision to relocate to Shamlian’s hometown of Chicago, so that she could work at NBC-owned WBBM-TV.
In 1997, Shamlian and her husband relocated to Houston, where she worked part-time at KPRC-TV. When she found out she was expecting her second kid, she chose to step down from journalism and become a full-time mother.
As a matter of fact, she spent the subsequent seven years caring for her family which expanded to a family of seven; two parents and five children.
Shamlian’s life was pretty cool, but she wanted to return to the newsroom. Therefore, with the support of her husband, she chose to make a comeback to television in 2004.
