Jason Reid is well known as the husband of MSNBC correspondent Joy Reid. Joy hosted AM Joy, the weekly MSNBC morning show, and now hosts The ReidOut which airs at 7 pm every weeknight.

Jason’s wife Joy Reid is a journalist, tv host, and author. She works for MSNBC as a political commentator and national commentator. Joy was born and raised in New York City by her parents. Her mother is from Guyana while her father is from the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Joy Reid’s father was an engineer while her mother was a college professor and nutritionist. She was mostly raised by her mother as her father was never around. Her father eventually went back to Congo after they got divorced.

Reid’s mother, unfortunately, died of breast cancer when she was 17 years old. She moved to Brooklyn from Denver, Colorado where she lived with her aunt.

Joy Reid began her journalism career in 1997 working for WSVN Channel 7  in South Florida. She had a brief break from journalism for almost three years when she was involved in politics.

Reid became the co-host of Wake Up South Florida on WTPS alongside James Thomas. She was also the political columnist for Miami Herald and the managing editor for The Grio. From 2000 to 2014, she ran her own blog The Reid Report where she shared her political view of what was happening at that time.

For one year, Reid hosted her own show The Reid Report on MSNBC. The show was later canceled and she was named the national correspondent for MSNBC. She has since hosted AM Joy, a political weekend-morning talk show, and The ReidOut, a new Washington-based weeknight commentary show on MSNBC.
