Jeremy Foster Resigns | Update
Pastor Mark Briggs of Riverpark Church announced on January 3, 2022, that Pastor Jeremy Foster confessed to having an extramarital affair with a woman not associated to Hope City.
Briggs went on to explain that Foster would be succeeded by interim Pastors Daniel and Jackie Groves, and he urged everyone to keep supporting the church’s goal. The pastors went on to announce 3 weeks of praying and fasting in a video on Facebook.
They made no reference of Jeremy Foster’s ethical downfall and departure. Instead, they expressed excitement about the new project, which they hope will enable individuals to get closer with the Holy Spirit and overcome distractions.
Foster’s resignation is the latest in a string of controversies involving the Association of Related Churches (ARC), one of North America’s leading church planting groups.
ARC pastors in Florida and Mississippi have also decided to resign in response to allegations of sexual harassment. Two most recent lawsuits have implicated these pastors and ARC, citing carelessness and cover-up in relation to the pastors’ claimed crimes against women.
