What happened to JJ Vallow’s biological parents
Who is J. J. Vallow?
J. J. Vallow born Joshua Jaxon Vallow was a young American child who disappeared in September 2019. He was reported missing by relatives who had not heard from him for a while.
JJ was last seen alive on September 23, 2019, at Rexburg’s Kennedy Elementary School. When his mother was questioned about J.J’s whereabouts, she said she was living with a family friend Melanie Gibb in Arizona.
Melanie however denied being with J.J and said she hasn’t seen him in months. She also informed the police that Lori, J.J’s mother had told her to lie to the police.
After further investigations, police also discovered that J.J’s elder sister Tylee was also missing. The strangest thing is that their mother never reported to the authorities that they were missing.
J. J. Vallow Age
JJ was 7 years old at the time of his death. He was born on September 23, 2019.
J. J. Vallow Biological Parents
J. J. Vallow was born to his parents Todd Trahan and Chrysta. He was raised by his grandparents Larry Woodcock and his wife Kay Woodcock for two years before his granduncle Charles Vallow adopted him. Charles and Kay are siblings while Todd is Kay’s son.
Adoptive Parents
Charles offered to adopt JJ as his grandparents were busy running a business. Charles got married to Lori in 2006 and adopted JJ in 2013. They moved as a family to Kauai, Hawaii in late 2014.
Charles filed for divorce from Lori in February 2019 stating that his wife had “threaten[ed] to murder him”, taken US$35,000 from their joint bank accounts, and stolen his truck.
Charles Vallow was shot and killed by Lori’s brother Alex Cox on July 11, 2019. He had gone to Lori’s house in Chandler, Arizona, to pick up his son JJ and bring him to school.
According to Fox10 News, while he was at the house, Charles and Lori got into an argument, and Cox stepped in to defend his sister. An altercation between the two men ensued, and Cox ended up shooting Charles in the chest twice, killing him.
Cox told the police that he shot Charles in self-defense after Charles hit him in the head with a baseball bat. Cox was never charged with Charles’ death. Shortly after Charles’ death, Lori moved to Rexburg, Idaho, with the kids.
J. J. Vallow Siblings
JJ had two step-siblings Tylee Ashlyn Ryan and Colby Ryan. His sister Tylee was last seen alive at Yellowstone National Park on September 8, 2019. Colby is the only child of Lori who is alive.
J. J. Vallow Cause of Death
JJ was last seen alive on September 23, 2019, at Rexburg’s Kennedy Elementary School. The next day, Lori contacted the school to tell them that she was withdrawing J.J. from classes, claiming she would be homeschooling him.
JJ’s relatives became worried after not hearing from him or his sister for a couple of weeks. They informed the police who began investigations on the whereabouts of the two.
Chad and Lori got married in Hawaii on November 5, 2019, two weeks after the death of Chad’s first wife, Tammy Daybell. Back in Rexburg, on November 26, police visited Lori’s townhouse at the request of J.J.’s grandmother, Kay Woodcock, to conduct a welfare check on J.J.
Lori told police that J.J. was in Arizona with family. That night, Lori and her brother Alex were seen packing a truck outside her home. When Rexburg police and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrived the next day to search the home, it was abandoned.
On June 9, 2020, police executed a search warrant at Chad’s home, where they discovered human remains buried in a purported pet cemetery.
On June 10, 2020, the Woodcock and Ryan families confirmed that the human remains found on Chad’s property were those of Tylee and J.J. This finding was officially confirmed by Rexburg police on June 13.
On May 25, 2021, Chad and Lori were indicted on the charge of conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, first-degree murder, and grand theft by deception for the deaths of Tylee, J.J., and Tammy.
