Who Was Kevin Conroy?
Kevin Conroy was an American actor. He was most known for voicing the sound of DC Comics superhero Batman in a variety of mediums, starting with the Warner Bros. animated television series Batman: The Animated Series in the 1990s and continuing with other TV shows and motion pictures in the DC Animated Universe.
Due to the success of his portrayal of Batman, he continued to play the role in other DC Universe Animated Original Movies productions as well as the highly regarded video games Batman: Arkham and Injustice.
As opposed to Michael Keaton, who did so in Tim Burton’s live-action Batman movies, Conroy is notable for being the first voice actor to represent Bruce Wayne and Batman using two unique voices.
He has played Batman for a longer period of time than any other actor in a count of appearances that includes every episode and film portrayal of the superhero in live-action and animation.
Kevin Conroy Wife
Conroy was openly gay. He was married to Vaughn C. Williams at the time of his death. Conroy contributed “Finding Batman,” a narrative that detailed his life and experiences as a gay man, for the DC Comics 2022 Pride anthology. Upon release, it was well-received by critics.
He revealed to The New York Times that he had “such a sense of obligation” to play the role of a TV producer covertly living with AIDS in Eastern Standard because he attended so many funerals as a gay man in New York during the AIDS pandemic.
