Hoover made her first television appearance in July 1995 as one of the actresses on the first season of MTV’s Road Rules, a reality show that followed five to six strangers as they traveled from place to place in an RV.
She started working for Fox News in 1999 as a correspondent for FOX Files, the news magazine of the Fox Broadcasting Company. She later became a correspondent for The Pulse and Celebrity Spotlight and co-hosted the latter.
Hoover began working for ESPN in August 2003, co-hosting Cold Pizza, the live morning program on ESPN2. She provided highlights and live interviews on the daily two-hour broadcast during the workweek.
From October 2006 through July 2008, Hoover worked as a correspondent for the TV Guide Channel. She presented Six Flags TV on July 27, 2008, at the various Six Flags Theme Parks around the United States.
She served as the host of the TLC lifestyle makeover program Real Simple, Real Life, which ran from 2008 to 2009. Hoover made her television debut on the premiere episode of the second season of Shaq Vs, which aired on August 3, 2010.
