In 2004, Cornett accepted a position at Hearst television to work as a meteorologist. In 2006, she moved to News Jersey to work at NBCUniversal as a meteorologist on a full-time basis.
In addition to forecasting for NBC WeatherPlus, she presented weather reports regularly on MSNBC, CNBC and Early Today on NBC. In October 2007, she joined KMOV-TV where she worked as a meteorologist for 14 years and 4 months.
