Kylie Capps Was Born in Flower Mound, Texas

Kylie was born and raised in Flower Mound, Texas. As young as she was at 8 years old, she already knew that she was going to be a meteorologist. Although she has not mentioned her age, Kylie seems to be about 28 years old.

Kylie’s Parents supported Her Ambitions

Kylie was so ambitious and confident in her career path. She would be glued to the T.V, with a weather radio in hand, just in case, they lost power in their house.

She made sure her parents and siblings knew our severe weather safety plan, even if the forecast called for a slight chance of rain. Her parents definitely supported her and made sure she had the right education for her career.

Kylie graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor of science in Meteorology and minors in both Broadcast Meteorology and Mathematics.

Kylie Capps’s Siblings Have Chosen Different Career Paths

Kylie’s brother Garret Capps seems to be an athlete. He graduated from the University of Louisiana where he was a member of The Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns football program.

Her sister Bethany Capps is a Scientist while her other sister Jillian Capps is a volleyball player for the Southern Arkansas Volleyball team. She graduated from Southern Arkansas University on May 30th. Her father Raul Capps is a staunch OU Football fan.

Capps is set to marry her fiance Chris David Shurtleff on August 21st, 2021. They have been dating for quite some time as she posted their first picture together in 2018.

Chris and Kylie met in 2013 during their freshman year. They briefly interacted but lost touch until 2016 when they met again at a BYX concert event. They became best of friends after going on a skip trip in January 2017.

After their graduating from OU in 2017 May, they had to part ways and live in different cities due to their careers.

Kylie moved to Waco while Chris moved to Houston. They kept their relationship alive with numerous texting and facetime. In 2018, Chris professed to Kylie his love for her and desire for her to be his girlfriend.

At that time Kylie had landed a job in Dallas and did a long-distance relationship for close to a year.

In October 2019, Chris found a job in Dallas and that means they finally lived in the same city. Chris proposed to Kylie on January 4, 2021. And the rest is history.

Capps works as the weekend morning meteorologist for KDFW -TV Fox 4. She anchors the Good Day Saturday and Good Day Sunday segments.

She joined FOX 4 team in 2018 October from KXXV where she also worked as a meteorologist. Her first meteorologist job was at  NewsOn6 in Tulsa and News9 in Oklahoma City where she interned and gained more experience in her career.

Capps’s first on-air job was at KXXV in Waco Texas where she worked as the weekend morning meteorologist. She covered Hurricane Harvey which hit the Texas coast two months after joining KXXV. Apart from being on-air, her hobbies are running, watching college football, and finding new restaurants.
