Lauren Sánchez Career as a Journalist
Sánchez began her career as a desk assistant at Los Angeles’ KCOP-TV. She also worked as an anchor and reporter at KTVK-TV in Phoenix before becoming a reporter for the syndicated entertainment show Extra.
She then moved to Fox Sports Net, where she received another Emmy nomination for her work as an anchor and correspondent for the sports magazine Going Deep, as well as an entertainment reporter for FSN’s Best Damn Sports Show Period.
Sánchez returned to KCOP-TV in 1999 to anchor UPN 13 News, for which she received an Emmy Award. She was also hired as an entertainment reporter for FOX 11’s 10 p.m. news on KTTV in Los Angeles.
During season 2 of The View in February 2000, she finished second in the nationwide hosting competition. Lisa Ling was eventually appointed to the position. Sánchez took over as the original host of FOX’s popular dancing competition So You Think You Can Dance in 2005.
