Lester Holt is an American broadcast journalist. He serves as a news anchor for Dateline NBC and NBC Nightly News on weekdays.

Holt pursued the same career path as Max Robinson, an evening co-anchor for ABC News, and as a result, he became the first African-American to serve as the sole anchor of a weekday network broadcast.

He was named as the NBC Nightly News’ permanent anchor on June 18, 2015, after Brian Williams was moved to a lower position. In a 2018 survey, Holt was rated as America’s most trusted TV news anchor.
