Lisa had been married three times before meeting R.C Sproul Jr. Her previous marriage which had lasted for 15 years ended in divorce in March 2015. Lisa described her marriage in her blog saying;
“….Sure enough it came to pass. Within just a few short months life spun out of control. My husband was a family practice physician. In fifteen years of marriage, he had switched jobs six different times, requiring multiple moves. This didn’t raise my suspicions at the time, but in the end, his sin was exposed. He had been at his last private family practice in 2013 for almost nine years, building from the ground up.
It was thriving. Suddenly he announced he wanted to leave and found a job with another hospital two hours away. I warned him if he took the job it would be the nemesis of our marriage and his career- that was God speaking through me. Three months later, he abruptly closed his practice- March 2013. We were fostering two toddler boys, and in the process of adopting them.
That all came to a halt on June 10, 2013, when I received a call from one of their caseworkers telling me to sit down. She told me that my husband had called her a few minutes prior to her calling me, informing her and asking that she inform me he was divorcing me and wanted the children returned to foster care immediately. I thought I would die….”

Lisa is a mother of 13 children; She describes all her children as “Five born in my womb, four born in my heart, and four gifted by marriage. Grandmother of eleven. ” She legally adopted the four youngest Sproul children on July 12, 2018.

Sproul was first ordained in the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARP). After a failed attempt to transfer to the Presbyterian Church in America, he was ordained in the Reformed Presbyterian Church General Assembly (RPCGA) in 2000.
In January 2006, he and the Session of Saint Peter Presbyterian Church (SPPC), its governing body, were deposed from office by the RPCGA under charges including “abuse of authority in an inexcusable manner” against several families, alleged illegal use of the ARP’s tax identification number, planting a church without authority, and practicing infant communion.
The Confederation of Reformed Evangelical Churches (CREC) examined the case and accepted Sproul as an ordained minister in good standing in 2006. In 2010 Sproul transferred his ordination to the denomination Covenant Presbyterian Church (CPC).
On March 27, 2019, Sproul announced, “I am a member in good standing at Pine Hills Church here in Fort Wayne. It is a part of the Federation of Evangelical Churches.”The FEC is an Anabaptist denomination of Amish Mennonite origin. July 2, 2019, Sproul became ordained through Logos Ministries of Florida and formed the business entity Dunamis Fellowship.

On February 14, 2021, Sproul inaugurated his newest church, Sovereign Grace Fellowship in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He announced on April 3, 2021, he would launch Shepherd’s College, on August 30, 2021, as a pastors college for training and mentoring men nationally and internationally.
