Who is Matt Rascon?
Matt Rascon is an experienced multimedia journalist, reporter and anchor. He is highly skilled at gathering, photographing, composing, editing, and presenting fascinating stories. He works as an anchor anr reporter at WKYC stucios in Cleveland Ohio, United States.
As the WKYC team and viewers get to know him on-air after he was formally welcomed into the 3News family in May 2023, we decided it was time to learn more about Matt behind the scenes.

Matt Rascon Education
Rascon graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in communications. As soon as he finished college, Matt and his family moved from the mountains to San Diego, where he worked as a multimedia journalist covering legal proceedings, wildfires, and corruption.

Matt Rascon’s Followed in The Footsteps of His Father
Matt was raised in the TV industry. His father, Art Rascon, has been an anchor and reporter for many years. Prior to settling in Houston, where his father eventually rose to prominence at ABC13, the family had previously moved to other markets owing to his dad’s work, including San Antonio, Los Angeles, and Miami.
Matt Rascon is a Family Man
Rascon is a married man. He and his wife met in college and they have beeen together for a couple of years. Matt and his wife Marisa chose to be open to professional prospects in other cities during a college stint in Salt Lake City.
Since Matt’s dad and his uncle both work in the industry, Marisa admits that she did learn a little bit more about this job when they initially got married.
She says; “Knowing that as we progressed through school, and I do feel that Matt’s father did much to prepare me for perhaps what our life could look like. And I believe that Matt and I have consistently been very open to change.”
They expanded their family when they relocated from San Diego to Boston and back to Salt Lake City over the course of a few years that followed. Fast forward, Matt and his wife are blessed with four daughters namely; Taylor, Jocelyn, Lyna and Abigail.
Marissa says; “Everyone is filled with excitement whenever Matt comes home. He is a great dad, I mean Matt is definitely a peacemaker at heart, he’s humble and he’s gentle.”
