Mekai Curtis is an American actor well known for playing the lead role of Kanan Stark in the Starz crime drama series Power Book III: Raising Kanan. The Starz series is a prequel to the popular crime drama series Power which starred Omari Hardwick, Lela Loren, Naturi Naughton, and Joseph Sikora among others.

Mekai had a passion for acting ever since he was little. He appeared in various commercials such as Walmart early in his career. He then played a minor role of Irving in the series Arrested Development in 2013.

Kirby Buckets aired from October 2014 to February 2017. It also starred Jacob Bertrand, Olivia Stuck, Cade Sutton, and Tiffany Espensen among others.

No, Mekai is not related to 50 Cent in the real world. However, Mekai plays the role of young Kanan Stark who was played by 50 Cent in the Power series. The series Power Book III: Raising Kanan is loosely based on the life of actor, rapper, and producer 50 Cent.

During an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Mekai spoke about his relationship with 50 Cent saying;

“The relationship between me and 50 has been great. Ever since the jump, he’s just always been there. He’s always got stories, whether Kanan was doing something that kind of resembled something he was doing when he was younger, or little nuggets. Between the, I think, 7 or 8 other shows that he’s got in the air, whenever I get a chance to sit down and chop it with him, I take it.”

Power Book III: Raising Kanan is a crime drama series airing on Starz. It is the second spin-off of the popular crime series Power. Other spin-offs of Power released so far include; Power Book II: Ghost and Power Book IV: Force.

Raising Kanan follows the life of Kanan Stark who was initially introduced to the viewers in Power played by rapper 50 Cent. It shows the life of young Kanan and his family as he gets involved in the drug business.
