Melanie Ricks is a sideline and digital reporter for the Milwaukee Bucks and an entertainer. She also hosts her radio talk show Nothin’ But the Truth,” on 101.7FM The Truth. She has been working for the Bucks since she was 12 years old as a dancer to becoming a sideline reporter 20 years later.

Melanie Ricks Age, Family

Melanie is about 32 years old as of 2023. She grew up in Milwaukee Wisconsin where her mother worked in the banking and finance sector while her stepfather worked at the Harley Division factory. Melanie is the oldest child in her family with two younger brothers and a teenage sister.

She studied at Brown Deer Middle and Brown Deer High Schools and later graduated from the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, where she majored in broadcast journalism. Since she was 12 years old, Ricks danced for the Milwaukee Bucks in the team’s dance team.

Melanie Ricks career

While Melanie was in college, she danced for the Milwaukee Bucks for four years since her freshman year. She later became the in-arena announcer for the Bucks when the then-host Andrea Williams got sick. She filled in for her a couple of times and was soon promoted to a full-time in-arena host.

As an in-arena host, Melanie was tasked with helping entertain fans pregame, during timeouts and quarter breaks. She was also the entertainment teams specialist where she managed all entertainment teams for the Bucks and helped coordinate in-game promotions, halftime shows, and community events.

As a dancer, she also coached and choreographed for the Bucks dance team the 414 Crew (formerly known as Milwaukee Bucks Dancers). In August 2023, she was promoted to a sideline and digital reporter for the Milwaukee Bucks.

In 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, Melanie had to put her work on hold due to the quarantine rules. During that time she applied for a radio talk show host position and luckily got the job. She began as a co-host for “MKE In the Morning,” and soon after she was able to get her talk show “Nothin’ But The Truth with Melanie Ricks.” alongside Ben Jammin and Kyle Wallace. 

Ricks also got a chance to host the 2020 NBA All-Star game in Chicago in February before everything was shut down.

Melanie’s show focuses on social issues such as love, relationships, fashion, social media influencers, and the woman’s world among others. She tries to ease her listener’s minds with realistic and relaxing topics since her show airs from noon to 1 pm when most people are on their lunch breaks.

Melanie Ricks COVID 19

In 2020 when everything was on lockdown, Ricks and a few of her friends got together to watch NBA games on TV. She unfortunately caught the virus from one of her friends and began feeling sick two days later.

Her grandfather Melvin Rabon died from the virus in June 2020. Luckily, she got better and was able to warn her followers on Twitter about having gatherings during the pandemic.
