Michael Tait is an American contemporary Christian music artist. In addition to singing, he is also a self-taught guitarist. In 1997, he formed the band Tait, which was a success in his solo career. He is widely known as the lead singer of Newsboys and a member of the Christian rock band DC Talk. Tait and Toby met Kevin in the 1980s at Liberty University and formed the Grammy-winning band DC Talk.

Michael Tait Career as a Music Artist

Tait is a singer of modern popular music and a component of Christian media which is lyrically centered on Christian faith-related issues and creatively based in Christian gospel music. Tait, Toby McKeehan and Kevin Max are the trio of DC Talk, a four-time Grammy winning band from which they released 5 acclaimed studio albums. Tait first met Toby in 1984 while still in high school and Kevin joined the duo while at Liberty University. The band announced a break in 2000 with the release of Intermission: the Greatest Hits, and during time all three members focused on separate projects.

Tait spent more time to his band Tait following the announcement of DC Talk’s hiatus and since then, the band has recorded three songs together. After the  September 11, 2001 attacks, the band also recorded a song called “Let’s Roll.” Despite the fact that Tait is currently touring as the frontman for the Newsboys, he still intends to release Loveology. On March 9, 2009, an official statement was issued introducing Michael Tait as the new lead singer of Newsboys. In the 1990s, his previous band, DC Talk, performed with Newsboys.

Tait stunned the crowd on March 7, 2009, by singing as Newsboys’ lead vocalist for the first time and revealing that he would be the band’s new lead singer. The revived Newsboys announced in 2010 that their 15th studio album and first with Tait on lead vocals, Born Again, will be released on July 13. Then there was Christmas! A Newsboys Holiday, with a previously unreleased Tait song. He  has contributed to other works, including the well-known Jesus Freaks and Jesus Freaks II. He also collaborated with DC Talk bandmate TobyMac on the books Under God and Living Under God.

Why did DC Talk break up?

The DC Talk members stated in 2000 that they would be leaving the group to pursue separate pursuits. They released the Solo: Special Edition EP, which included two new songs from each member’s solo projects as well as a live rendition of U2’s “40” performed by all three members.
