Who is Paul Brand?

Paul Brand is a journalist working for ITV News. He is the presenter of the current affairs program Tonight since March 2022. He was named the new presenter for Good Morning Britain from August 18, 2022, alongside Kate Garraway.

Brand was previously the UK Editor for ITV News appearing on News At Ten and The Evening News. He was also a political correspondent for ITV Yorkshire and ITV Tyne Tees.

Paul Brand Parents, Education

Brand was born and raised in Bridgend, Wales. He studied at Cowbridge Comprehensive from 1996 to 2003 where he was the head boy. His passion for journalism grew when he graduated from high school.

Paul then joined the University of Oxford where he graduated in 2006 with First Grade Honors. In 2007, he received a bursary from ITV to study journalism at the City, University of London. He graduated in 2008 with Postgraduate Diploma in Broadcast Journalism.

Brand is married to his husband Joe Cuddeford. His husband Joe is a  civil servant working at the Geospatial Commission, a government body.

They welcomed their first child, a son called Tomos via surrogacy on Thursday 10 June at 10.40 pm in 2021. He shared the exciting news with his followers on his Instagram saying;

“Welcome to the world, Tomos George Cuddeford-Brand. Born 10th June at 9lb 5oz. We have never known love like this before. You are the most priceless gift.”

Paul Brand ITV

Brand began his journalism career at Town & Country Broadcasting where he was a reporter and newsreader. He then joined ITV in June 2008 as a production journalist. He was later promoted to a reporter for ITV Wales.

Paul covered Welsh Assembly and a general election as an embedded reporter with the Conservative Party. From 2011, Brand was the reporter for ITV National News, Daybreak & ITV London.

He reported on bailiffs evicting dozens of travelers, the London riots and the Occupy protest, and the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Paul was then named the political editor for Good Morning Britain in November 2015. He was also the political correspondent for ITV covering political news from Lincolnshire to Lockerbie.

From 2021, Paul took the role of UK Editor for ITV where he covered Covid 19 Lockdown where people had parties at the highest peak of the pandemic.

In March 2022, he was named the new presenter of Tonight succeeding Julie Etchingham. From August 2022, Paul will be hosting Good Morning Britain alongside Kate Garraway.
