Paul Washer Heart Attack

In 2017, Washer suffered a non-fatal heart attack but later survived after seeking medical attention.

In a Shared magazine letter on March 2017, Paul Washer wrote;

“My dear brothers and sisters, I hope this brief introduction finds you growing in your understanding of the person and work of Christ upon which the entirety of our hope and salvation rests.

“You may know that it has been eventful several weeks for my family and me. On March 20th, I suffered a heart attack in my home. Before the paramedics could transport me to the hospital, my heart stopped beating on three separate occasions.

I do not remember the first several days in the hospital; when I finally became aware of my surroundings, I was told that I had suffered a heart attack. As a result, I had also suffered temporary loss of short-term memory.

After his recovery Washer took a moment to encourage all to take care of themselves. “If you are not eating right, start tomorrow. If you are not exercising a few times a week (even walking 30 minutes), start tomorrow. Whatever you do, don’t ignore symptoms.”

Paul Washer Shocking Message

Full text of Bible teacher and preacher Paul Washer’s sermon popularly known as “The Shocking Youth Message,” which was delivered at the 2002 Youth Evangelism Conference in Montgomery, Alabama.

The message Read;

I will tell you things that make you so angry with me, and I’ll tell you things that you will deny. And I will tell you things and you will say I have no right to tell you what I’m telling you.

But before you come to any conclusion about what is being said here this afternoon, you ask yourself one question. You see, preaching is a very dangerous thing. It’s dangerous for me because the Bible says that false teachers will undergo greater condemnation. If what I tell you today is not true, I’m in a great deal of trouble and have every right to do this with fear and trembling, because I will stand condemned before God.

But if what I tell you today is true, then you’re the one with cause for fear and trembling, because if I correctly interpret this passage of Scripture that I’m going to give you, it is as though God was speaking through a man. And your problem will not be with me; it will be with God and His Word.

So, the only question that really has to be decided here this afternoon is: Is this man before us a false prophet? Or is he telling us the truth? And if he is telling us the truth, then nothing else matters except conforming our lives to that truth.

Paul Washer Quotes

“There is no such thing as a great man of God, only weak, pitiful, faithless men of a great and merciful God.”

“Why would we want fame, when God promises us to glory? Why would we be seeking the wealth of the world when the wealth of heaven is ours? Why would we run for a crown that will perish with time, when we’re called to win a crown that is imperishable?”

“People tell me judge not lest ye be judged. I always tell them, twist not scripture lest ye be like satan.”

“I used to tell young preachers, in order to preach you’ve got to have the power of God on your life. Now I tell them, in order to tie your shoes you’ve got to have the power of God on your life.”

“Idolatry is when you become the source of your own joy. Poverty of spirit is a wonderful thing.”
