“I have an announcement to make, and it’s not positive,” Gonzalez stated at the beginning of the video.
“I don’t even know how to put it, but six months ago I was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer. I kept everything to myself, and I felt selfish since I didn’t want to inform everyone about my personal situation.”
“However, I believe I can use my circumstance to raise public awareness for young men like myself,” he explained.
According to the American Cancer Society, the chance of acquiring colon cancer is about 1 in 23 (4.3 percent) for men and 1 in 25 (4.0 percent) for women.”
Gonzalez stated that he felt compelled to publicize his condition when several followers commented on his weight loss.
“The doctor said I had two or three years to live, and he said with chemo, I have five years,” Gonzalez explained. “And I didn’t know what to make of it. It was a disaster.”
Since Gonzalez revealed his cancer diagnosis, most of his fans have expressed their support on social media. Many followers are posting his GoFundMe page on Twitter, where he is seeking to gather funds for his medical needs.
