Robin Wilhoit WBIR Channel 10 (NBC)

Robin Wilhoit anchors weekdays on 10News at Five, Six, and 10News Nightbeat. She joined the WBIR news team in 1992 as a reporter and weekend anchor and was later promoted to host the weekday morning newscasts.

Then, in 1998, she was honored to take over the news desk from long-time Channel 10 anchor Bill Williams. She also assisted with the launch of the Buddy Check 10 campaign to raise breast cancer awareness the same year.

She has had the honor and privilege of sharing with us the stories of the women and men who have fought cancer with such bravery. Robin found the process fascinating and made the decision that she wanted to be the one in front of the camera, asking questions and telling the story.

The North Carolina native wrote for her high school newspaper before attending UNC-Chapel Hill to pursue journalism. By her sophomore year, she had won an internship at ABC affiliate WTVD in Durham, where she worked with health reporter Catherine Walters.

In 1990, Robin landed her first job at a CBS affiliate in Johnson City, a smaller market that provided plenty of learning opportunities for a young reporter. It also gave Robin the chance to meet her future spouse.

The couple continued with their journey to Knoxville. When Brent acquired a job in Oak Ridge in 1992, Robin began working at WBIR as a weekend reporter and she ultimately became the morning anchor.

The subsequent 30 years have been fruitful and fulfilling as she’s made connections and told stories about major occasions like 9/11, the Sevier County wildfires of 2016, the pandemic, and inspiring local tales of survival.

She has worked hard to make wise choices throughout her career to support her health, from getting good sleep to maintaining healthy habits as part of her daily routine. Every night, she reads even if it’s just a few pages from actual books, not electronic ones, usually anything uplifting or historical fiction.
