Who Was Roger Pearce?
Roger Pearce was the the Technical Director for ITV. He began working for the national network in June 2001 as a sports technical producer before rising to the position of technical director in August 2007.
He has been with ITV for more than 43 years after joining the industry, contributing significantly to their productivity. He started his career in 1973 as a technical apprentice and support engineer, and joined ITV in 1979 where he began working as a broadcast engineer in Scotland.
The planning and production of major athletic events coverage, such as the World Cup, UEFA Europ Championships, and Rugby World Cup, fell under his supervision over the course of their career.

It has been confirmed that Pearce has died on the job while out in Qatar, just weeks before he was due to retire from his job. He was embarking on his eighth World Cup at the time of his death. Sharing the news, ITV Sports presenter Mark Pougatch said;
