Scott Thuman WJLA-ABC7

Thuman is the Emmy-winning Chief Political Correspondent for the Sinclair Broadcast Group which operates 191 television stations throughout the nation in 89 regions. He regularly covers the White House, and Capitol Hill, as well as international terrorism and military operations.

While covering the White House, he was the source of some of President Trump’s most memorable and perhaps consequential statements, such as one of his most vehement and outspoken denials of dismissing FBI Director James Comey in an effort to halt the Russia investigation.

Additionally, he prompted the president to say, in a rare and publicly publicized admission, that he should move forward with a “softer tone” after regretting some of his actions in a one-on-one interview in November 2018. Throughout the 2012 presidential campaign, he was the only reporter from the DC area to secure several interviews with President Barack Obama.

During one of these interviews, Mr. Obama made his first lengthy and scathing remarks about Mitt Romney and his stint at Bain Capital. Thuman and President Obama had yet another exclusive one-on-one interview on election day. Earlier in the 2012 election season, he presented POLITICO TV on C-SPAN.

Thuman was the subject of Herman Cain’s now-famous “Excuse me!” outburst and was credited with providing fresh leads in the sex-scandal stories. His contributions were widely featured in the WJLA composite submission that won the 2013 USC Annenberg Walter Cronkite Award for outstanding television political journalism.
