Her breakthrough came in her early twenties when a talent scout noticed her dancing at a club in Paris and eventually brought her on to play Claudine in the Walter Lang movie Can-Can (1960).

She had already missed a few chances to fly to Hollywood since she was restricted by a contract, but she eventually departed from a Spanish stage production in which she was the lead to head to Hollywood for this movie.
