Sharyn Alfonsi is an American television journalist. She works as a correspondent for 60 Minutes. She appeared for the first time on the program on March 1st, 2015.

Sharyn has appeared on 60 Minutes since 2015. One of the most notable 60 Minutes pandemic stories was her recent coverage of the management of one of the first known coronavirus super-spreader events, a cruise onboard the Costa Luminosa.

In April 2019, she released an investigative report about the migration problem along the U.S.-Mexico border. In January 2020, she received a Columbia University-du Pont Silver baton for the report.

Soon after the release of that report, Alfonsi was given the opportunity to speak for the first time with the Salvadoran woman who was the wife and mother of the drowned migrant father and daughter, whose image in life captured the whole world.

Alfonsi arrived from ABC News, where she spent five years as a reporter stationed in New York and made frequent appearances across all of the division’s platforms.

She revealed that the outfits worn by American Olympic participants were produced in China for “World News Tonight.”

In another instance, she exposed factory-like breeding facilities in Pennsylvania’s Amish region while reporting for “Nightline,” which demonstrated the frequently awful puppy mill industry.

Alfonsi worked as a freelance reporter for “CBS Evening News,” “Up To The Minute,” and CBS Newspath prior to her promotion to CBS News correspondent.
