Shermichael served as a contributing host for the current affairs digital program Consider It produced by Vox Media, which aired once a week on Facebook Watch. He was named a 2019 Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree for Law and Policy for his work in politics and the media.
He has worked as a political operator for Newt Gingrich’s presidential campaigns, where he primarily focused on engaging and reaching out to young people.
From there, he continued working for the 2012 presidential campaign of former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney in coalitions and operations, traveling across the United States.
He served as the counselor on religion coalitions for Dr. Ben Carson’s presidential campaign in the 2015 and 2016 election cycles.
His job was to identify and form networks within the religious community, which would later grow to be Dr. Carson’s largest support base.

As a result, Dr. Carson was the only candidate during the 2016 election season to consistently outperform President Trump in surveys.
