Chenevey began his journalism career working in radio before transitioning into a TV sports reporter covering high school football before graduating to cover the NCAA and NFL. He then joined WYTV Washinton in February 1996 where he worked as a news anchor.
He then joined WPXI-TV in Pittsburg where he worked as a news reporter and anchor for over three years. While there, he covered some of his favorite stories such as reporting from New Orleans in the immediate aftermath of Hurricane Katrina and non-stop coverage of a week-long mine rescue in Pennsylvania.
In December 2002, Steve joined WTTG TV in Washinton DC where he worked as a news anchor for nine years.
In January 2012, he joined WJLA-TV as a news anchor where he anchored the morning newscast from 4:30 am to 7:00 am and also the Noon newscast at ABC7 WJLA-TV in Washington, DC.
Chenevey joined Fox 5 DC in November 2013 working as a news anchor. He now anchors the FOX 5 Morning from 6 a.m. to 10 a.m and hosts Good Day DC from 9 am to 11 am.
