Jacob was suing for more than $6.2 million in damages, claiming that she lost 85 clients as a result of the article that was published. The New York Times stated that they would defend the lawsuit through a representative. A judge dismissed the case in September 2022 after finding that Jacob had not provided sufficient evidence of defamation.

In an article by Lorenz on the right-wing Twitter account Libs of TikTok that appeared in The Washington Post on April 19, 2022, it was revealed that the account’s owner was an Orthodox Jew who worked in a real estate named Chaya Raichik.

Early versions of the Libs of the TikTok Twitter account were used to retrieve this information. Initially, the article’s online version contained a hyperlink to Raichik’s real estate license. The article became controversial with Lorenz being charged with doxxing, antisemitism for referencing Raichik’s faith, and hypocrisy for having previously spoken out against online abuse.
