Who is Tony Armstrong?

Tony Armstrong is an Australian television journalist. He is among the few people who have pursued two different high-profile careers. Before embarking on his current job, Tony was a professional Australian rules footballer. He is now perhaps best known for working in one of the biggest media outlets in Australia; the Australian Broadcasting Corporation.

Armstrong began working for ABC in June 2020 as a producer and sports news presenter on ABC Radio and Television. He is credited for co-hosting the summer Offsiders series, providing commentary for Grandstand AFL on ABC Sport, and presenting sports on ABC News.

ABC announced in March 2021 that Armstrong would take over Paul Kennedy’s position as the sports presenter on ABC TV’s News Breakfast for three months, Tuesday through Friday, while Kennedy works on ABC’s 7.30.

A few months later, in November 2021, ABC announced that Tony would be the new host of A Dog’s World, a three-part series that aims to comprehend how our relationship with dogs has changed throughout time.

He said; “It must be a very special person, and I guess I must be in a position where I can also provide for their needs. I have no desires whatsoever. My only financial concern is whether I can pay my mortgage and lead the kind of life I want to lead.”

For the purpose of getting straight to the point, Armstrong seems to be unmarried at the moment as he claims. Why did Tony Armstrong retire?

Tony noted in October 2022 that it took him a number of years to mentally heal from his dismissal, an event that left him feeling “devastated” and momentarily disgusted with the game. The Swans delisted him at the end of the 2013 season, and Collingwood ended up signing him as a delisted free agent.

After the 2014 AFL season came to an end, Armstrong was delisted; however, Collingwood selected him again in the rookie draft. Armstrong’s professional career came to an end when Collingwood delisted him again at the end of the 2015 season, notwithstanding the fact that he had only played one senior game.
