Venton Blandin ABC15 Arizona Career
Blandin started his career at NBC Universal as an assignment editor in January 1999. Three years later, he joined Hearst Television in Baltimore, Maryland where he served as an assignment reporter. He has worked in the United States Marine Corps, Gray Television, WCIV and WHNT as a news reporter until 2014.
He joined the Sinclair Broadcast Group in June 2014 as a general assignment reporter on a full time basis. Three years later, he moved to St. Louis, Missouri and joined KMOV-TV where he served as a general assignment reporter. He had multiple roles such as managing original storytelling assignments while preserving interaction and excellent rapport with the majority of external contacts.
He was also responsible for advising all levels of management on potential public reaction to coverage, as well as keeping an active presence on social media channels. He also took an aggressive approach to breaking news on the station’s website, app, and across all social media channels, as well as generating original pieces from news tips.
He began working as the director of communications for the United States Department of Justice in August 2020. The role required him to engage people in areas across 51 counties and to collaborate with the men and women who work for 249 law enforcement agencies. He attended law enforcement and prosecution-related activities on behalf of the U.S. Attorney.
