Her name is derived from her father’s Hawaiian ancestry. La’akea means “sacred light” when lightly interpreted, whereas Makalapuaokalanipo is a more indigenous name with no exact meaning in English.
Her father is from Honolulu, Hawaii, and was once a prominent competitor in the UFC’s heavyweight division until his retirement in 2018. This certainly played a role in deciding on the name that was given to their first daughter.

La’akea was born to Ronda Jean Rousey and Travis Kuualiialoha Browne. Rumors started spreading in August 2015 that Ronda and Travis were dating secretly. This was after a photo of the two went around on social media and Browne’s estranged wife Jenna Renee Webb couldn’t hold back.
Webb started claiming that the two are dating secretly. She had accused Browne of domestic violence in July 2015 and as a result, the UFC launched an investigation.
Browne confirmed in October 2015 that he and Rousey were in a relationship. He proposed to Rousey on the 20th of April 2017, in New Zealand. That same year, the couple married officially on August 28, 2017, in a wonderful ceremony held in Browne’s home state of Hawaii.
In April 2019, ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne revealed that Rousey was taking a break from her professional wrestling career with WWE in order to start a family with Browne.
Two years later, the couple revealed that they were expecting a baby girl. Rousey made the announcement through her official YouTube channel.

Makalapuaokalanipo’s Mother, a former bantamweight champion who later rose to fame in the WWE, has put her athletic career on hold in order to concentrate on parenting. She allowed herself to step back from the public eye after finding out she was expecting a baby in 2021.
Rousey was one of the biggest names in combat sports when she was competing, and after switching from Judo to MMA following the 2008 Beijing Olympics, she was unbeaten in her first twelve matches.

Unluckily, Rousey was viciously stopped in the first moments of the bout by Nunes, who has since gone on to become one of the best fighters in the world in terms of strength-to-weight ratio.
