Lil Tay was a Canadian-born rapper and viral internet personality who became famous in 2018 at the age of 9. She would post videos on the internet swearing, with lots of cash, and sometimes pretending to do drugs. As she gained popularity on social media, she appeared in numerous interviews including ABC News where she was interviewed with Juju Chang.

During the interview, she said; “People think it’s funny, I guess, ’cause I’m 9 years old and I’ve accomplished so much. I’m the youngest flexer. I can do anything I like. If they don’t believe me, I don’t care.”

Lil Tay would brag on socialmedia how she had more money than her fan’s aunties. She onetime s her toilet was worth more than most people’s rent while flashing bundles of cash on expensive cars. It was not clear where she got all the money and cars from as she had just begun her career.

Lil Tay had released songs such as Money Way, In My Head, and had also collaborated with a few rappers before she went on a hiatus, Her last post on Instagram was in 2018 as she was mourning the loss of rapper XXXTentacion.

The young rapper was born Claire Hope. She died at the age of 14 on August 9, 2023. Claire was born in Canada and moved with her mother to Los Angeles when she was 9 years old.

What was Lil Tay’s Cause of Death?

Claire was announced dead according to her Instagram on August 9, 2023. The statement read;

“We have no words to express the unbearable loss and indescribably pain. This outcome was entirely unexpected and has left us all in shock. Her brother’s passing adds an even more unimaginable depth to our grief. During this time of immense sorrow, we kindly ask for privacy as we grieve this overwhelming loss, as the circumstances surrounding Claire and her brother’s passing are still under investigation.”

The statement concluded, “Claire will forever remain in our hearts, her absence leaving an irreplaceable void that will be felt by all who knew and loved her.”

Her cause of death together with her brother’s death has not yet been revealed. People were more shocked by her passing as she had gone on a hiatus since 2018.

Claire was born to her parents Angela Tian and Christopher J. Hope. Angela was a real estate agent working at Pacific Evergreen Realty in Vancouver. She was criticized for exploiting her daughter on social media and rumors spread that she was fired from the firm because of the controversy. She however denied it and said she resigned from the firm. for her daughter’s career and her bright future during the interview on ABC News.

Clair’s father Chris Hope is a Lawyer and author. He was against her daughter being on social media and took legal measures to ensure her daughter stayed off social media. He told Hollywood Life: “When my daughter’s social media began to go viral this year, I disagreed with most of the social media activity.

“I took legal steps to stop things which I felt were dangerous to her physical and mental health and to her future.

“I do not think a 10-year-old girl should be put in those situations and made to drop out of school so that she can make money for other people.

“Everyone else involved in this situation is motivated by money and the possibility of making money off of my daughter.

“I am not fighting about money; I am fighting for my daughter, for her happiness, and her future.”
