Who is Roxanne Wiltshire?
Roxanne Wiltshire came to the limelight after her relationship with Jay Z’s mother Gloria Carter became public. They got married in July 2023 at a star-studded wedding in Tribeca, New York City. Their wedding was attended by Jay Z and his wife Beyonce and daughter Blue Ivy together with Robin Roberts, Kelly Rowland, Tyler Perry, and Tina Knowles-Lawson.
Jay Z spoke about her mother coming out to him on his song Smile ft Gloria Carter in his 4:44 album in 2017. Part of the lyrics says;
“Mama had four kids, but she’s a lesbian/Had to pretend so long that she’s a thespian/Had to hide in the closet, so she medicate/Society shame and the pain was too much to take,” he rapped. “Cried tears of joy when you fell in love/Don’t matter to me if it’s a him or her/I just wanna see you smile through all the hate/Marie Antoinette, baby, let ’em eat cake.”
Gloria Carter and Roxanne Wiltshire Began Dating in 2018
After coming out to his son and family, Gloria and Roxanne began dating in 2018. Jay Z was in the middle of making his album 4:44 when his mother came out to him. Gloria wrote a poem that is featured in the song Smile.
During her appearance on the D’Usse Friday podcast in 2017, Gloria said;
“I was sitting there and I was telling him one day. I just finally started telling him who I was. Besides your mother, this is the person that I am, you know? This is the life that I lived……So my son started actually, like, tearing because he was like, ‘That had to be a horrible life, ma.’ I was like, ‘My life was never horrible. It was just different.’ So that made him want to do a song about it.”

What Does Roxanne Wiltshire Do?
Roxanne is a philanthropist and businesswoman. She is the president and co-founder of the Wiltshire Foundation, a nonprofit organization that advocates literacy to overcome socioeconomic, intellectual, environmental, health, legal, and cultural hurdles and inequities. The organization is committed to serving all people, particularly those who are marginalized, underrepresented, or disenfranchised.
Roxanne was born in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and raised alongside her three sisters Diane Wiltshire, Wilma Wiltshire, and Wendy Wiltshire. She studied at the Holy Name Convent in the Port of Spain and later joined the John Jay College of Criminal Justice in New York.
Who is Gloria Carter?
Gloria is well known as the mother of well-known rapper Jay Z. She founded the Shawn Carter Foundation with his son where she is also the CEO.
Gloria was previously in a relationship with Jay Z’s father Adnis Reeves. They had four children Andrea, Eric, Michelle, and Jay Z. He abandoned his family and Gloria raised her children on her own.
